Another Applique Quilt

Joan R brought me another of her applique quilts for quilting.  I don't really do customer quilts any more, but I've kept Joan as a "special" customer and I will do for friends (as I did for Karen, previous post).

Full on above.

She didn't want a lot of quilting and with black, you can't see it anyway, so it was pretty basic.

Recent Customer Quilting

As you know, I don't do many customer quilts these days.  But I still have a few "special" clients that I just can't say no to.  In the last few months, I've done a few customer quilts.  ...

Sharon did this Dresden Plates quilt.  She said she started it in 1999 so wasn't in too much a rush to get it quilted.  I managed to get it to her before another year went by!  :)  I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.  It is huge - queen size.

Joan R. (because I have several "Joan" friends!) asked me to quilt these little table toppers for her.  She loves to do applique and I like to quilt them for her because she is just so enthusiastic!

Rhoni's Quilt

My friend Rhoni started working in this quilt - well - who knows when?  It says (below) that it was "wrought in 2003" which is long, long before I knew her.  It's a lovely quilt - wool applique on flannel that had been either a Traditional Past Times kit or BOM. She brought it to me a couple of months ago and asked if I would quilt it so she could finally finish it.  She wanted the border so she could trim some scalloped curves into it.  So here is how I quilted it.....

My Garden

These quilts are so wonderful and whimsical.  This one has essentially three borders and 12 blocks.  As I usually do for this type of quilt, I let it "talk" to me.

Click on the pix to enlarge - if you look closely you can see some flowers among the pebbles in this background (above).

Above - bees stitched into the background.

Above - I love this fill.  I "invented" it to sort of go with the background fabric.  Going to be using it again!

Country Medallion

I'm calling this one "Country Medallion" because I have to call it something!  This quilt is remarkable in that it was made by a woman who has tunnel vision - I expect that means she must be close to legally blind.  She called and asked if I would quilt her quilt - of course!!!

She did all this applique by hand.
